Activity- Picture from main chapters

Literary Concepts

Search
I think searching plays a big role in Moon Over Manifest because Abilene is slowly figuring out  the town Manifest. She also is finding clues to her father and the mark it made on him. She has to search for the objects Miss Sadie has directed her to collect. Abilene is constantly searching for a new adventure.

Change
During the book I find that  Abilene becomes more social, and I also notice that the people in Manifest become more social because of Abilene. For example, Ms. Evans is a woman who sits on her porch and watches the world go by, but when Abilene pays an unexpected visit, and Ms.Evens comes to the Manifest get-together, she feels like a new person, and this is because of Abilene. She changed the perspective of Miss Sadie, Shady, her friends, and even her dad. Abilene was especially changed being more aware and lively, in her personal life and social life.

Friendship
Abilene never had any friends, and at school felt alone. However when Lettie and Ruthanne came over, and offered to hangout with her, she felt a little uncertain about this, and didn't know if she wanted to show them what she had found out, but as she came to know them they became her best friends. She also made many friendships with the working people of Manifest and even the people in Miss Sadie's stories.

Activity-rewrite part of the book

I will be rewriting part of the book starting at the part when Abilene almost got on the train.

Abilene took the train leaving everything behind. Not knowing where to go. She figured maybe she could find Gideon. She then realized everything she had left, she was so starteld that right then right now jumped off the train.

She landed hard on her arm. She unsteadily got up, and started the opposite way of the train. She knew Manifest wasn't too far away, but not sure how close.

After walking awhile she say the old Manifest sign. Then she saw Shady, with a disappointed look on his face.  She started slumped over the train tracks to Shady. He the gave her a long scold for leaving and everything that would have happened, and how he was Lucky to catch a glimpse of me or no one would know where Abilene went. She then apologized and her and Shady went home.

Chapter 38:

This is aout Miss Sadie. She had a son, they come to America. The boy is classified as healthy, but the mom (Miss Sadie) is not.

Later, the woman gets well enough so she goes back to the U.S. She finds out her son lived in an orphanage then sent to the west. She ends up going to Manifest and finds her son, but he is being raised by a man named Hadley Gillen, and renamed him as Ned. She decides not to say or tell about him being his mother for the fear of a miss understanding. So she just does what a deviner does; watch, wait, love. The nn is the only one that knows her secret. Miss Sadie waits until the story can be told again, and Miss Sadie guesses it was time with Abilene.
